Mank

Mank (2020) is David Fincher's drama, and you can watch online on iFILM. It's early-1940s Hollywood, and screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman) is laid up with a shattered leg after a car crash, racing a three-month deadline to draft the script that becomes Citizen Kane.

Holed up in a Mojave Desert cottage, Mank dictates pages to a secretary while his memory keeps dragging him back to the 1930s — to studio back rooms and lavish weekends at newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst's estate. That world is where the most famous debut in film history quietly took shape. Orson Welles wants the script finished, the producers keep pushing, and Mank gets pulled into a fight over who really wrote it. Beside him is actress Marion Davies (Amanda Seyfried), whose friendship with the boozy wit matters more than it first appears.

Fincher shot the film from a screenplay by his late father, Jack, and built it to feel like studio-era cinema: silver black-and-white, mock film scratches, a soft analog hiss on the soundtrack.
