Synopsis

Driving Miss Daisy (1989) is Bruce Beresford's gentle drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Atlanta, the late 1940s. Elderly Jewish widow Daisy Werthan wrecks her car, so her son hires someone to drive her.

The new chauffeur is Hoke Colburn, a Black man played by Morgan Freeman. Daisy wants nothing to do with him. She refuses to ride along, barely speaks, treats the whole arrangement as an insult. Yet the years pile up. Slowly, across long Georgia roads, a stubborn old woman and her unflappable driver become something neither of them expected — friends, in a place and time that frowned on it. Jessica Tandy plays Daisy; Dan Aykroyd is her son Boolie.

The film won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Jessica Tandy. There are no big speeches here, just twenty-five years told in small moments and quiet rides. Stream Driving Miss Daisy (1989) online on iFILM.
