Stargate Universe (2009) — watch online on iFILM: a sci-fi drama series that sends a group of soldiers and scientists billions of light years from home aboard an Ancient starship called Destiny. The cast includes Robert Carlyle, Louis Ferreira, Ming-Na Wen and Brian J. Smith.

The ship has no return path. Destiny follows a course set thousands of years ago, and the crew — stranded there after an emergency evacuation through the ninth chevron — must figure out survival on the fly. Water, power, food, and repairs that never quite hold. Physicist Nicholas Rush, played by Robert Carlyle, knows more about the ship than he lets on. Colonel Everett Young is in charge, more or less. That friction drives the series harder than any alien threat.

A Canadian-American Syfy production that ran two seasons between 2009 and 2011, Stargate Universe leaned darker and more character-driven than its predecessors — closer in tone to Battlestar Galactica than to the action-adventure of earlier Stargate shows.
