The servants' storyline runs in parallel: butler Carson, lady's maid Anna, and footman Thomas each carry lives just as tangled as those of the family they serve.

Six seasons, fifty-two episodes, and a run from 1912 to the late 1920s — Fellowes used the Crawleys to map exactly how the British class system cracked under the weight of modernity.
