SpongeBob SquarePants (1999) is Nickelodeon's animated comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. Deep under the Pacific, in the undersea city of Bikini Bottom, an eternally cheerful fry cook shaped like a kitchen sponge goes about his very full life: flipping patties at the Krusty Krab, caring for his pet snail Gary, and dragging his starfish best friend Patrick into one strange situation after another.

The show was created by marine biologist turned animator Stephen Hillenburg, who built the comedy around actual ocean science and wrapped it in pure, silly chaos. Squidward sulks next door, Mr. Krabs counts every coin, and Sandy Cheeks arrives from Texas with a diving suit and a black belt. Since its 1999 debut the series has run more than a dozen seasons on Nickelodeon, spawned three theatrical films, and become one of the most recognisable animated franchises on the planet.
