Synopsis
Mediterranea (2015) is a drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Jonas Carpignano. The film grew directly out of his time living alongside African migrants in Calabria — the same towns that appear on screen.
Ayiva leaves Burkina Faso with his friend Abas. They push through Algeria, cross the Sahara, move on to Libya, and finally board an unsafe vessel across the sea. Italy turns out to be the harder half of the journey: working without papers on citrus farms, sleeping in shacks, facing daily suspicion from locals that slowly tips into open hostility. Koudous Seihon plays Ayiva with a quiet stubbornness that carries the film without a single speechy moment.
