Last Summer

Last Summer (L'Été dernier, 2023) is a French drama by Catherine Breillat you can watch online on iFILM. Anne is a successful lawyer, settled into suburban Paris life with her husband Pierre and their two young daughters. The balance breaks when Theo — Pierre's 18-year-old son from a previous relationship — moves in for the summer.

Breillat doesn't make the story comfortable. Anne, played by Léa Drucker, is neither helpless nor monstrous — just a woman who chooses, then lives with it. Samuel Kircher plays Theo as restless and magnetic, a presence the household was not built to absorb. The film runs 104 minutes and keeps the tension close to the surface throughout.
