Synopsis
The Monkey (2025) is a horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM, adapted by director Oz Perkins from Stephen King's short story of the same name. Twin brothers Hal and Bill find a wind-up cymbal monkey in their late father's attic. The moment its mechanism clicks, someone nearby dies — loudly, grotesquely, and without warning.
Christian Convery plays the brothers as kids. Theo James takes both roles in adulthood, pulling double duty as the reckless Hal and the guarded Bill. Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, and Adam Scott each step into the toy's blast radius at different points in the timeline. Twenty-five years after burying the thing and walking away from each other, the monkey starts clapping again. Perkins shoots the kills with a deadpan theatricality that is very much the point — the film sits somewhere between a genuine fright and a pitch-black joke about mortality.
