Time Goes By (Seasons 1–3)
Synopsis
Time Goes By (Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki, 2010) is a Turkish family drama — stream it online on iFILM. Set in the 1960s, it follows the Akarsu household as a sailor's affair quietly tears it apart. Ali (Erkan Petekkaya) falls for a Dutch woman named Caroline while his wife Cemile (Ayça Bingöl) holds four children together at home. The marriage doesn't explode — it erodes, which is far harder to watch.
The series belongs as much to the children as to the parents. Berrin is at university, old enough to understand what's happening and angry enough to feel it. Aylin and Mete are still in school, absorbing the damage without the vocabulary to name it. Little Osman is simply too young. Aras Bulut İynemli and Farah Zeynep Abdullah — both now major names in Turkish television — appear here in early roles.
What makes this show worth the time is its restraint. The period detail is precise, the performances are grounded, and the writing never tips into soap opera. It's a long, slow study of how a family fractures and what the children carry forward. Stream Time Goes By (2010) online on iFILM.
