Synopsis
The Club (Kulüp, 2021) is a Turkish Netflix historical drama you can watch online on iFILM. Istanbul in the 1950s: a city remaking itself under new laws, with minority communities absorbing the consequences. Matilda has just been released from prison. She finds work at a nightclub — a place that was once part of Istanbul's Jewish cultural life and is now something more complicated — and tries to reach her daughter Rakel, a young woman who grew up without her. Gökçe Bahadır and Barış Arduç lead the cast.
Mother and daughter circle each other carefully. Rakel doesn't know what to do with a parent who reappears after years of absence; Matilda doesn't know how to explain herself. The nightclub becomes the setting where their lives — and the lives of everyone else caught in the city's upheaval — intersect. Discrimination, displacement, and the slow erasure of a community's identity run through every episode.
For a Turkish series, The Club is unusually direct about a period the country doesn't often dramatize. Stream all seasons online on iFILM.
