Shahmaran (Şahmaran, 2023) is a Turkish fantasy drama series you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Umur Turagay. A young woman arrives in Adana and finds herself pulled into an Anatolian legend older than any map — the myth of Shahmaran, a figure who is part woman, part serpent, and the keeper of knowledge that most humans were never meant to hold.

Serenay Sarikaya plays Shahmaran with a restraint that makes the character feel genuinely unknowable — neither monster nor savior, just ancient in a way that makes contemporary life look thin by comparison. Burak Deniz plays the professor who comes to the city for ordinary reasons and discovers that his connection to the legend predates his own life. The tagline says it plainly: "The world does not belong to humans alone."

The series draws on a real Anatolian folk tradition in which Shahmaran shared her healing secrets until one man's betrayal ended that pact.
