I Origins

I Origins (2014) is an American drama-sci-fi you can watch online on iFILM. Writer-director Mike Cahill follows molecular biologist Ian Gray, who has spent years building the scientific case that the human eye is proof of evolution — nothing more.

Ian (Michael Pitt) is a committed materialist. Then a woman he barely knows pulls him into a connection that feels impossible to explain, and when she's gone, the loss leaves a gap his data can't fill. Working alongside lab partner Karen (Brit Marling), Ian stumbles onto evidence that his research points somewhere science wasn't supposed to go. Each new finding tightens the contradiction between what his instruments show and what he can bring himself to believe.
