Synopsis
Miss Marple: The Murder at the Vicarage is a 1986 BBC television film you can watch online on iFILM, adapted from Agatha Christie's novel of the same name, first published in 1930. Joan Hickson plays Miss Marple — the performance that set the template every subsequent adaptation has been measured against.
Colonel Protheroe is found shot inside the local vicar's study. Half the village seems to have wanted him dead, then two separate people march in and confess to the murder. Detective Inspector Slack is out of his depth and knows it. Miss Marple, meanwhile, has been paying attention to the small things everyone else overlooked.
Director Julian Amyes launched the BBC series here — the one that ran for eight years with Hickson in the role. Stream Miss Marple: The Murder at the Vicarage (1986) online on iFILM.
