Synopsis

BPM (Beats per Minute) (2017) is Robin Campillo's visceral French drama you can watch online on iFILM. Paris, early 1990s: a group of ACT UP activists targets pharmaceutical companies and government agencies that are stalling on HIV research while people around them die.

Nathan arrives as a newcomer, quietly overwhelmed. Sean is the opposite — furious, tireless, throwing himself into every action with the energy of someone who knows his own clock is running out. Nahuel Pérez Biscayart and Arnaud Valois carry the film with raw, physical performances, and Adèle Haenel holds the group's moral center. Director Campillo was an ACT UP member himself, and that firsthand knowledge shows in every detail — the procedural heat of the weekly meetings, the spray-painted demonstrations, the bodies.

The film took the Grand Prix at Cannes 2017 and put French cinema back at the center of the conversation about political filmmaking. It is rare: a movie where activism and tenderness occupy the same frame without either cheapening the other. Stream BPM (2017) online on iFILM.
