Synopsis
Personal Shopper (2016) is Olivier Assayas's ghostly psychological thriller, free to watch online on iFILM. Kristen Stewart plays Maureen, who shuttles between Paris boutiques picking out clothes for a celebrity she barely sees. That job is only the surface of her life.
Maureen is also a medium. Her twin brother Lewis died in this same house three months ago, and the two of them made a pact: whoever went first would send a sign from the other side. Then the texts start arriving from an unknown number. Is it her brother, a stalker, or something she's conjured out of grief? Assayas refuses to settle it, and the dread builds out of nothing more than a phone buzzing.
A French production made with Germany and the Czech Republic, this is horror by way of mourning rather than jump scares. Stewart carries nearly every frame alone, and her quiet, jittery performance won the Best Actress prize at Cannes. Stream Personal Shopper (2016) online on iFILM.
