Synopsis
The Paperboy (2012) — watch online on iFILM: a steamy Southern noir directed by Lee Daniels (Precious, 2009), adapted from Pete Dexter's 1995 novel. Florida, late 1960s. Reporter Ward Jansen (Matthew McConaughey) drives back to his small hometown to dig into the killing of the county's racist sheriff — and to pull a death-row inmate off his execution date before the state finishes the paperwork.
Three people are working the case with him: a British colleague, his younger brother Jack (Zac Efron), and Charlotte Bless (Nicole Kidman) — a woman who fell hard for the convicted man through years of prison correspondence. Under the suffocating heat of the Deep South, everyone is hiding something and moving toward something they probably shouldn't. David Oyelowo and John Cusack round out a cast that commits fully to the film's raw, uncomfortable atmosphere.
