Synopsis
I Lost My Body (J'ai perdu mon corps, 2019) is a French animated drama you can watch online on iFILM. In a Paris lab, a severed hand twitches back to life, slips off the dissection table, and crawls across the city toward the body it was torn from.
A second thread runs alongside it. Naoufel is a shy young pizza delivery boy who falls for a girl named Gabrielle after hearing her voice over an intercom, then quietly tries to find her. The escaped hand's journey across rooftops, sewers, and subway tracks weaves together with Naoufel's memories of his parents, his childhood, and the day that changed everything. Dialogue is sparse; the film leans on images, textures, and sound instead.
Jérémy Clapin's debut feature adapts a novel by Guillaume Laurant, the screenwriter of Amélie. It took the Critics' Week Grand Prize at Cannes, won the César for best animated film, and made the Oscar shortlist. This is hand-drawn animation built for adults — melancholy, tactile, unlike anything else around. If you're worn out on glossy 3D, give it a shot. Stream I Lost My Body (2019) online on iFILM.
