Adaptation. (2002) is a meta-comedy from director Spike Jonze you can watch online on iFILM. Nicolas Cage plays real screenwriter Charlie Kaufman, paralysed at his desk while trying to turn Susan Orlean's book about an orchid thief into something worthy of the screen.

His twin brother Donald — also Cage — churns out a pulpy thriller without breaking a sweat. Meanwhile Meryl Streep as Orlean herself tracks down eccentric plant poacher John Laroche, played by Chris Cooper in an Oscar-winning performance. The film folds back on itself: the book Charlie is adapting bleeds into the script he is writing, until the line between real life, fiction, and the act of storytelling collapses entirely.
