Synopsis
Like Mike (2002) is a family fantasy comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Calvin Cambridge is fourteen, lives in an orphanage, and is about as tall as a point guard's armpit. Then a bolt of lightning hits a pair of old sneakers marked "M.J." — and suddenly Calvin plays basketball like no one in the building has ever seen.
The NBA partnership is real: the film was shot on actual league courts with cameos from players of the era. Shad Moss (Bow Wow) carries the movie with loose, easy energy, making the ridiculous feel earned. Morris Chestnut plays star player Tracy Reynolds, who starts out dismissing Calvin as a novelty act and slowly realizes the kid is the most genuine teammate he's had. Director John Schultz keeps the magic in the background — what the story is really about is a boy who wants to belong somewhere.
