About

Synopsis

U-571 (2000) is a WWII submarine thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director Jonathan Mostow cast Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton, and Harvey Keitel in a tense 116-minute mission set deep in the Atlantic.

It's 1942. Allied convoys keep getting sunk and no one can break the coded transmissions. A small crew of American sailors is sent out disguised as Germans to board a crippled enemy sub and pull its encryption device before anyone notices they were there. Nothing goes to plan. Lieutenant Tyler, played by McConaughey, suddenly commands a vessel he doesn't fully know — with a full German navy between him and home.

Produced by Dino De Laurentiis, the film shot on actual submarines to keep the claustrophobia real. It's a straightforward action-heavy war picture that doesn't linger — just men, steel, and depth charges. Stream U-571 (2000) online on iFILM.
