Synopsis
Palm Royale (2024) is an Apple TV+ comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Kristen Wiig plays Maxine — a woman who arrives at the gates of Palm Beach high society in 1969 with no money, no connections, and a very detailed plan.
Maxine wants in at the Palm Royale, the most exclusive club in Florida, and she will get there any way she can. The cast around her includes Laura Dern as the club's iron-willed queen, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Kaia Gerber, and Carol Burnett as a comatose matriarch who somehow still controls everything from her hospital bed.
The show runs on the gap between its bright pastel 1960s surface and how ruthless everyone actually is underneath. Wiig plays Maxine as both a broad comedy character and a person genuinely desperate to belong — holding both registers at once is what makes the performance land.
