Synopsis
Vertical Limit (2000) is a mountain action thriller directed by Martin Campbell — watch it online on iFILM with Chris O'Donnell, Bill Paxton, and Scott Glenn. A climbing team is pinned inside a crevasse near the summit of K2, the world's second-highest peak, with oxygen running out and a storm closing in. There is no clean way to reach them. There may not be enough time at all.
Peter Garrett (O'Donnell) learns his sister Annie (Robin Tunney) is among the trapped. He puts together a six-person rescue team, including reclusive climbing legend Montgomery Egan (Scott Glenn), and starts up into conditions that keep getting worse. The film was shot on location in New Zealand's Southern Alps with crews working in genuine subzero cold. At 124 minutes it moves fast — avalanches, nitroglycerin, fractured ice, and the kind of decisions that are impossible at sea level and catastrophic at 8,000 metres.
