Equilibrium
In a future where freedom is outlawed, outlaws will become heroes.
Synopsis
Equilibrium (2002) is a sci-fi action thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Kurt Wimmer and starring Christian Bale. Produced by Dimension Films and Miramax, the film runs 107 minutes. In the future state of Libria, emotion is illegal — every citizen takes a daily dose of Prozium, a drug that flatlines all feeling. Those who refuse are hunted down by Grammaton Clerics, the regime's killing arm.
John Preston is the best Cleric alive. He burns books, destroys art, and executes offenders without a second thought. Then one morning he drops his vial and skips a dose. Just once. Colour, sound, grief, and rage flood back into a mind that has never known any of it. His new partner Brandt (Taye Diggs) watches for any slip. A prisoner named Mary O'Brien (Emily Watson) feels everything and hides nothing. Sean Bean appears as Preston's former partner — dispatched by Preston himself in the opening minutes, a scene that sets the film's cold logic in motion.
Wimmer invented "Gun Kata" — a close-quarters shooting discipline choreographed around statistical crowd movement, filmed without CGI. The film earned just $5.4 million against a $20 million budget on release, then quietly built a cult following among dystopian sci-fi fans. Stream Equilibrium (2002) online on iFILM in full HD.
