He starts from scratch, training a squad of young officers in old-school surveillance methods; among them is He Qiuguo (Zhang Zifeng), the daughter of his late partner. Tony Leung Ka-fai plays the threat on the other side — cold, calculating, and several steps ahead.

Director Larry Yang frames the chase as a clash between two kinds of intelligence: the instincts of a veteran who reads a street like a map, and criminals who can vanish from any camera.
