Synopsis
My Name Is Khan (2010) is a Bollywood drama directed by Karan Johar — watch it online on iFILM. Rizwan Khan, played by Shah Rukh Khan, is a Muslim man with Asperger's syndrome who moves from Mumbai to San Francisco. He falls in love with Mandira, a Hindu single mother, and they build a life together — a small business, a blended family, a routine.
Then September 11 happens. The neighbourhood shifts, the school becomes hostile, and the surname Khan turns into a target. When tragedy follows, Mandira sends Rizwan away with an instruction that he takes literally: tell the President of the United States that your name is Khan and you are not a terrorist. So he sets out across America to do exactly that.
Kajol's performance as Mandira is the emotional anchor of the film; her grief scenes in the second half hit harder than the more overtly political sequences. Shah Rukh Khan plays Rizwan's Asperger's traits without caricature — the character's literal-mindedness becomes both the film's dramatic engine and its moral argument. Released simultaneously in 155 countries in 2010, it was one of the widest Bollywood releases of that era. Stream My Name Is Khan (2010) on iFILM.
