Squid Game (오징어 게임, 2021) is a South Korean Netflix series you can watch online on iFILM. Writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk built the story around 456 people crushed by debt, each handed a cryptic invitation to compete in children's playground games for a prize of 45.6 billion won. Losing means dying.

Player 456 is Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae — a compulsive gambler who's run out of road. Around him: a former stockbroker, an elderly woman with a brain tumor, a North Korean defector. Different backstories, same math. Outside the compound, detective Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) is looking for his missing brother among the contestants. Watching over everything is the Front Man, Lee Byung-hun — the enforcer who doesn't need to hide.
