Synopsis
Blue Ruin (2014) is a crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier. Dwight lives out of a rusted car on the Virginia coast — no job, no fixed address, no plan. Then he hears that the man who destroyed his family is getting out of prison early. He drives to the release and acts. The revenge takes about fifteen minutes. The fallout takes the rest of the film.
Macon Blair plays Dwight as someone who has never done anything like this before and shows every mistake on his face. Saulnier strips out most of the dialogue and builds tension through stillness and error. The production was partly crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and the finished film won the FIPRESCI Prize in the Critics' Week section at Cannes 2013.
There is no slick operative here, no prepared escape. Just a quiet, ungainly man pulling a thread that unravels everything around him. Stream Blue Ruin (2014) in full on iFILM — lean, precise, and genuinely unsettling.
