Lab technician Emma Hedges signs up for an online forensics course run by professors Sarah Gordon and Kathy Torrance — and realizes the fictional cold case built into the curriculum tracks her own buried past too closely to be coincidence. Three women with clashing instincts start working the same unsolved murder. Molly Windsor, Laura Fraser, and Jennifer Spence do the whole thing without raising their voices. Martin Compston turns up in a supporting role.
