The Prophecy

The Prophecy (1995) is a dark fantasy thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Writer-director Gregory Widen built his story around a war in Heaven that has gone on so long both sides have grown cruel — and now the angel Gabriel has come to Earth to finish it. Christopher Walken plays Gabriel not as a celestial messenger but as something cold, offended and extremely patient.

Gabriel needs the soul of a dead colonel — a man whose evil could tip the heavenly balance — and it has been hidden inside a young Native American girl in a small Arizona town. Standing between him and his prize: a former seminary student turned LAPD detective played by Elias Koteas, and a schoolteacher named Katherine (Virginia Madsen) who never asked to be part of any of this. Viggo Mortensen appears in a brief but striking role as Lucifer himself, stealing every scene he's in.
