Synopsis
What Lies Beneath (2000) is a psychological thriller and supernatural horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Robert Zemeckis directed it with Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford — a deliberate return to old-school Hitchcock tension, shot by cinematographer Don Burgess with a score by Alan Silvestri.
Claire Spencer (Pfeiffer) is alone in a lakeside Vermont house after her daughter leaves for college. Her husband Norman (Ford), a university researcher, is always away. Then the mirror starts showing a reflection that isn't hers. Doors open by themselves. A neighbour's relationship turns oddly familiar. Claire is convinced something — or someone — is trying to reach her. Norman says it's grief and stress. The harder she digs, the clearer it becomes: the presence isn't random, and whoever it belonged to didn't go quietly.
Zemeckis leans hard on slow dread rather than cheap shocks, and Pfeiffer carries nearly every scene on her own. The film was shot back-to-back with Cast Away on the same Vermont locations. Stream What Lies Beneath (2000) in full online on iFILM.
