About

Synopsis

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) is a Joel Coen comedy adventure you can watch online on iFILM. George Clooney plays Everett Ulysses McGill, a silver-tongued con man who escapes a Depression-era Mississippi chain gang by dragging two bewildered cellmates — Pete (John Turturro) and Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) — across the Deep South on a story about buried treasure that may or may not exist.

The road throws everything at them: a one-eyed Bible salesman (John Goodman), an unlikely recording session that turns the trio into accidental radio stars, a Ku Klux Klan rally crashing in at exactly the wrong moment, and a blues musician at a crossroads who claims to have sold his soul the night before. Holly Hunter appears as Everett's ex-wife Penny, who has moved on and has opinions about it. Each episode quietly mirrors a chapter of Homer's Odyssey, swapping ancient Greece for kudzu-covered Mississippi.

Produced by Touchstone Pictures and Universal Pictures, the film's bluegrass-and-country soundtrack won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2001 — one of the few movie soundtracks ever to do so. Stream O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) online on iFILM.
