Synopsis
The Frighteners (1996) is a horror-comedy directed by Peter Jackson — watch it online on iFILM. Michael J. Fox plays Frank Bannister, a self-styled ghost hunter who actually employs three friendly spirits to haunt houses so he can swoop in and "exorcise" them for a fee.
The hustle unravels when real deaths start piling up in town. Victims drop from apparent heart attacks, but each body carries a mysterious number carved into the forehead. Only Frank can see what's lurking beyond the living: something far darker than his paid-up poltergeists. Tracking the killer alongside the widow of one victim — played by Trini Alvarado — Frank also has to dodge a deranged FBI agent obsessed with his own supernatural theories. Jeffrey Combs and Dee Wallace round out the cast.
