About

Synopsis

What Women Want (2000) is a Paramount Pictures romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Nancy Meyers put Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt at the center of a premise that's equal parts absurd and sharp: a Chicago ad man wakes up one morning able to hear every thought in every woman's head. The film opened in December 2000 and grossed over $374 million worldwide on a $70 million budget.

Nick Marshall (Gibson) has spent his career pitching beer and power tools while the women's accounts go elsewhere. When Darcy McGuire (Helen Hunt) lands the boss job he expected, Nick is ready to sabotage. Then a freak accident rewires his brain, and suddenly the whole city is broadcasting. The barista, the secretary, the intern, the woman on the elevator — all of them, unfiltered, all at once.

Mel Gibson plays the panic and the slow reversal with genuine comic timing, while Marisa Tomei, Alan Alda and a very early Sarah Paulson round out the ensemble. The real hook is what Nick does with the power once he figures out it might cost him something. Stream What Women Want (2000) online on iFILM.
