Chocolat

The story opens in the winter of 1959, when a free-spirited woman named Vianne arrives with her young daughter in a tight-laced French village and sets up a chocolate shop right across from the church, smack in the middle of Lent.

The town's self-appointed moral guardian, Count de Reynaud (Alfred Molina), declares war on her. But the chocolates keep pulling people in. Elderly Armande (Judi Dench) comes to spite her daughter. A bruised woman named Josephine steps in for the first time in years. Vianne has a gift — she knows exactly which chocolate each person needs. Then a river drifter named Roux (Johnny Depp) floats into town and shakes up everything she thought she'd sorted out.
