Synopsis
Boogie Nights (1997) — watch online on iFILM. Paul Thomas Anderson wrote and directed this sprawling drama at age 26, and it remains one of the defining American films of the decade. Mark Wahlberg, Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly, Heather Graham, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Don Cheadle make up the ensemble.
Late 1970s San Fernando Valley. Eddie Adams buses tables at a nightclub until porn director Jack Horner spots him and decides he's the future of adult cinema. Under the name Dirk Diggler, Eddie climbs fast. Then disco dies, cocaine moves in, and the makeshift family Horner built around himself — this collection of outcasts who found each other — starts coming apart at every seam. Anderson shoots it all in a single kinetic opening take before the story slows down and gets honest.
Burt Reynolds and Julianne Moore both received Oscar nominations for their performances. New Line Cinema released the film on a $15 million budget; it earned three times that at the box office. Stream Boogie Nights (1997) in full on iFILM.
