Synopsis
Space Jam (1996) is a Warner Bros. live-action animation hybrid you can watch online on iFILM. Director Joe Pytka blended a real basketball court with hand-drawn Looney Tunes characters across 87 minutes, and the result earned over $250 million worldwide on an $80 million budget.
Alien theme-park operators from Moron Mountain need an attraction. Their plan: drain the talent from NBA stars Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Muggsy Bogues, and others, then challenge the Looney Tunes to a basketball game for ownership of the cartoon characters. Bugs Bunny and his crew pull their own counter-move — they recruit recently retired Michael Jordan, who plays himself, to suit up for the Tune Squad. Wayne Knight brings the laughs as frantic agent Stan Podolak, and Bill Murray turns up late in the game as an unlikely wild card. The Monstars, now loaded with stolen NBA skills, are no joke on the court.
The film opened in November 1996 and broke box-office records for a sports star-led movie, a mark that held for over two decades. R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" from the soundtrack sold more than three million copies on its own. Stream Space Jam (1996) in full on iFILM.
