CODA

CODA (2021) is Sian Heder's drama you can watch online on iFILM. Seventeen-year-old Ruby is the only hearing member of a Gloucester fishing family, so everything runs through her — she interprets, haggles at the dock, and hauls nets before dawn.

She also sings. A choir teacher hears something real in her voice and pushes her toward a music-school audition. The problem is timing: without Ruby, her deaf parents and older brother can't talk to buyers, the coast guard, or anyone who doesn't sign. Stay and keep the family business afloat, or chase a future of her own. Troy Kotsur plays her blunt, funny father, Marlee Matlin her mother, and Emilia Jones spent months learning sign language, singing, and working an actual trawler for the part.
