Synopsis
The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) is a historical drama from BBC Film and Focus Features — watch it online on iFILM. Director Justin Chadwick adapted Philippa Gregory's bestselling 2001 novel, bringing the rivalry between two sisters at the Tudor court to a 110-minute feature.
The Boleyn family sees King Henry VIII as an opportunity. Quiet, warm-hearted Mary, played by Scarlett Johansson, is pushed into the royal orbit first — and finds herself genuinely attached. Her sister Anne, played by Natalie Portman, treats the court as a game to be won rather than a place to feel anything. Eric Bana plays Henry as a man who can dissolve a marriage, break with Rome, and convince himself each move is destiny. Their father Thomas (Mark Rylance), mother (Kristin Scott Thomas), and an uncle who wants a crown in the family all pull strings behind both women.
The supporting cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, and Eddie Redmayne in early notable roles. Made for $35 million, the film earned more than $78 million worldwide. The story ends where the history books do — with everything the Boleyn name cost. Stream The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) online on iFILM.
