Shoot 'Em Up

A nameless drifter called Smith delivers a baby in the middle of a firefight — then finds himself the only thing standing between the newborn and an army of hired guns. The man sending them is Hertz, precise and sardonic, who treats the whole assignment like a professional inconvenience. Smith enlists Donna Quintano to look after the child while he works out who wants the baby dead and why. The answers run straight into a government conspiracy with enough bodies to keep everyone busy.

Davis built the film as a deliberate physics-free spectacle: the kill count is absurd, the stunts escalate past satire, and Owen keeps a straight face through all of it while Giamatti chews the scenery with obvious relish.
