Synopsis
Into the Wild (2007) is Sean Penn's drama you can watch online on iFILM. In the spring of 1992, twenty-two-year-old Christopher McCandless walked away from everything: honours degree, savings account, family. He mailed $24,000 to charity and pointed himself north toward Alaska.
The film follows two years of wandering. Chris harvests wheat in South Dakota with Wayne Westerberg (Vince Vaughn), drifts down the Colorado River, and spends long weeks with a retired soldier named Ron Franz (Hal Holbrook) — the closest thing to a father he lets himself have. Emile Hirsch plays Chris with the lean, driven look of someone who has made a decision he refuses to question. The last chapter plays out alone in an abandoned bus on the Alaskan tundra.
Penn adapted Jon Krakauer's non-fiction account with unusual care for the people Chris met along the way. Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam wrote the acoustic soundtrack, which earned its own following. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing. Watch Into the Wild (2007) online on iFILM.
