His real name is Gordon Shumway, he stands three feet tall, and his favorite snack is house cats, which keeps the Tanners and their cat Lucky permanently on edge. ALF mouths off, meddles in everything, wrecks the household routine, and hides from the military goons hunting for extraterrestrial life. Willie and Kate scramble to keep him secret from the neighbors, the kids quietly adore him, and ALF keeps turning the living room into a disaster zone with the best of intentions. Creator Paul Fusco voiced and puppeteered him throughout.

Across four seasons and over a hundred episodes, the show became a fixture of 1980s television, and that cat-eating running gag entered the culture.
