The Golden Compass (2007) is a New Line Cinema fantasy adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Director Chris Weitz adapted the first volume of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, with newcomer Dakota Blue Richards as twelve-year-old Lyra Belacqua, supported by Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Ian McKellen and Eva Green.

Lyra grows up inside the walls of an Oxford college in a parallel world where every person's soul walks beside them as an animal companion called a daemon. When children start vanishing, she sets off north carrying an alethiometer — a truth-telling compass almost nobody alive can read. The journey puts her alongside armoured polar bears, a clan of witches, and airman Lee Scoresby, played by Sam Elliott. Nicole Kidman's Mrs. Coulter pulls strings behind everything.
