Synopsis
Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor (2013) is the BBC's landmark 50th anniversary special you can watch online on iFILM. Director Nick Hurran packed 85 minutes with three versions of the same Time Lord and a decision that had haunted the show since the very first episode.
Three timelines collide: something stirs inside London's National Gallery in 2013, a spy plot unravels at Queen Elizabeth I's court in 1562, and a centuries-old war reaches its final hour somewhere in deep space. The Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith), the Tenth (David Tennant), and the War Doctor — played by John Hurt in a role created specifically for this story — meet face-to-face. Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) is along for the ride, Billie Piper turns up as a character very different from Rose, and Tom Baker makes a cameo that fans still argue about.
Broadcast simultaneously in 94 countries on 23 November 2013, the special set a Guinness World Record for the largest-ever simulcast of a TV drama. You don't need to know every season to follow it — the story holds on its own. Watch The Day of the Doctor online on iFILM.
