Synopsis

It's 1962, and Tony Lip (Mortensen) is a Bronx bouncer between jobs — loud, practical, and blunt about it. He lands a gig driving Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), a classically trained Black concert pianist, on a tour through the Deep South at a time when local laws dictated which doors a man could walk through based on the color of his skin. The title refers to an actual travel guide of the era listing hotels and restaurants that would serve Black Americans. Linda Cardellini plays Tony's wife Dolores, back home reading letters her husband turns out to write surprisingly well.
