Synopsis
The Raid (Serbuan Maut, 2012) is Gareth Evans' Indonesian action film you can watch online on iFILM. A SWAT team walks into a gangster-run tower block in Jakarta — and the door slams shut behind them.
The plan was simple: slip in before dawn, climb to the top floor, arrest the drug lord holed up there. But the man rents every floor to killers and thugs, and one unlucky encounter blows the team's cover. The lights go out, the exits seal, and twenty officers are left to fight their way through a building full of armed tenants. Rookie cop Rama punches, stabs and improvises his way up, floor by floor. Martial arts star Iko Uwais, trained in pencak silat, leads the cast, with Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian as his opponents.
Evans shot the film with almost no breathing room: corridors, stairwells and brutal hand-to-hand fights choreographed by the performers themselves. After its Toronto festival premiere, The Raid became an instant action benchmark and spawned a sequel. Stream The Raid (2012) online on iFILM.
