Synopsis
The Brutalist (2024) is a sweeping drama from director Brady Corbet that you can watch online on iFILM. Adrien Brody plays László Tóth, a Hungarian architect who crosses the Atlantic after the war; Felicity Jones is his wife Erzsébet; Guy Pearce plays the wealthy American patron who becomes both his benefactor and his burden. The film runs three and a half hours.
The story begins in 1947. László arrives in Pennsylvania with almost nothing — a name in architecture, a talent for modernist form, and a marriage tested by separation and survival. A commission arrives: something significant, something that could restore his standing. He takes it. But patronage in postwar America comes with unspoken obligations, and the man writing the cheques has his own ideas about what gets built and why.
Corbet shot on VistaVision, a wide-gauge format that gives the film a physical, deliberate weight. The Brutalist won the Silver Lion for Best Director at Venice and emerged as one of the defining awards contenders of the 2024–2025 season. It is a film about what it costs to make something lasting — and who gets to decide what lasts. Stream The Brutalist (2024) online on iFILM.
