Inside a teenager's phone sits Textopolis, a bustling town where every emoji handles one feeling and only one. That is the whole job. Gene fails his very first scan: his face pulls every expression at once, from glee to panic. Desperate to be a "normal" emoji, he bolts across the phone's apps with the perpetually idle Hi-5 and a code-breaking hacker named Jailbreak. Their route runs through games, messengers and the cloud, and ends up deciding the fate of Textopolis itself.
