Doraemon (Season 1)

Doraemon (ドラえもん, 2005) is a Japanese animated series from Shin-Ei Animation that you can watch online on iFILM. A robotic cat travels back from the 22nd century to look after Nobita Nobi, a clumsy ten-year-old with a talent for landing himself in trouble. The gadgets Doraemon pulls from his belly pocket are supposed to help — they rarely do.

Each episode runs about 22 minutes and follows the same beautifully reliable logic: Nobita wants an easy fix, borrows something extraordinary, and makes the situation worse. His circle includes the kind-hearted Shizuka, the show-off Suneo, and the neighbourhood bully Takeshi Gouda. The show has been airing on TV Asahi since April 2005 and has passed 1,400 episodes — one of those rare animated series that parents and children watch together across multiple generations.
