Fleabag (Seasons 1–2)

Fleabag (2016) is a BBC Three comedy-drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Phoebe Waller-Bridge wrote it, stars in it, and broke the form entirely: the lead talks directly to camera, pulling viewers inside a head that is funny and wrecked in equal measure.

Her name is never given. She runs a small guinea pig café in London that is barely staying afloat. Her best friend died and the circumstances are complicated. Her sister (Olivia Colman) is wound tight, their father says very little, and the stepmother (Sian Clifford) deploys passive aggression with the precision of a weapon. Sex, mostly with strangers, fills the gaps without filling them. Then a priest played by Andrew Scott walks in and the series pivots in a direction no one saw coming.

Two seasons, six episodes each. In 2019 Fleabag swept the Emmys — Best Comedy Series, Best Actress, Best Writing, among six wins in total. Director Harry Bradbeer helmed both seasons. Stream all episodes of Fleabag online on iFILM.
