Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok (2017) is the god of thunder's third solo outing, and you can watch online on iFILM. New Zealand director Taika Waititi took the grim Norse myth about the end of the world and rebuilt it as a loud, funny space comedy from Marvel Studios.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) gets dumped on the junk planet Sakaar, where the eccentric Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) runs a gladiator circuit for laughs. His opening match pits him against an old Avengers teammate: the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who flatly refuses to turn back into Bruce Banner. Back home things are worse. Hela, the goddess of death (Cate Blanchett), has seized Asgard's throne, and with his hammer Mjolnir gone, Thor has almost nothing to stop her. Tom Hiddleston returns as the slippery Loki, with Idris Elba as the sentinel Heimdall.

Waititi swapped the stiff grandeur of the earlier films for improv, a synth score by Mark Mothersbaugh, and Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song at full blast. The movie pulled in over 850 million dollars and reset the tone for an entire phase of Marvel. Blanchett delivers the franchise's first fully realized villain.
